A key element in the success of the museum has been the dedicated work of the volunteers in restoring the exhibits as closely as possible to their original form. What may look like a piece of scrap with no intrinsic value to most can be a treasure to behold to the discerning eye of an experienced person.
The Willoughby Light, and many items in the cottage itself are fine examples of this restoration work.
The examples shown on this page are testament to their work. Below the two images of the cottage, the images on the left will show the condition of the exhibit when it was acquired, and the images on the right will show the restored exhibit currently on display.
Please bear in mind that some of these restoration projects have taken years to accomplish. The volunteers give of their time when it is available.
